How to Prepare for World Event Two

It’s coming, in under a week players will be battling it out to protect one of two gods, in what will be RuneScape’s second World Event, this time, featuring no one other than Bandos and Armadyl. With time closing in, everyone’s starting to prepare, and with us we’ll let you know the top ways to prepare for The Bird and the Beast epic World Event 2!

Divination Training

It has been stated many times by RuneScape that Divination will play a big role in this event. Divine tears have dried up since the last event and players will need to support their gods in other methods, one of these ways is through divination skilling in the event. While in the last event your skill levels did not matter it is still a good idea to get to a high Divination level. This will give you a good understanding of the skill, and if there is a chance that your level does have influence then you are well prepared.

You can start training Divination south-east of Draynor.

Missing, Presumed Death

This is the latest Sixth Age quest and it prepares you for World Event 2 in more ways than one. If you haven’t finished the quest then now would be a good time to do so. You’ll be able to see the gods Bandos and Armadyl for the first time as well as get some background lore information leading up to this event.

You can start the quest north of the Dig Site.

PvP

Safe player killing is going to feature in this World Event! Through PvP, players will be able to get juicy Prayer exp, support their god, and bust some skulls of those on the opposing team. While this isn’t the main way to participate in the event, it looks like you can heavily benefit from it. So dust off your PvP skills, get some practice, stock up on food, and find your old PvP armor so you’ll dominate the other players! The PvP will be across nearly the whole game world and you’ll be able to kill anyone of any level. However, there will be damage scaling so high combat levels can’t cream the lower levels. Its good to note that you will be able to toggle off the PvP aspect of the Event after it starts.

Tip: RuneScape is new to combat and damage scaling, right after the event starts I’m sure it wont be operating at 100%, so you might have a easier chance of killing someone of a different combat level than you. With that said, get out there and start training!

Understanding Event Mechanics

It appears that this event will be more complicated than the first World Event. There will be more ways to help your god and better rewards. Having an understanding of the event mechanics and background is very important, especially before the event is released, the Behind the Scenes video for this event will give you a better understanding of how exactly the Event is going to work.

Don’t forget! Which ever god loses dies permanently within the game, so choose wisely and good luck!

RuneFest Recap

So, it’s been a week since the famed RuneFest, where RuneScape enthusiasts got together along with Jagex over in the UK to see upcoming releases, play unreleased content, and overall learn more about RuneScape and where it’s headed in the future.

A lot of things were discussed and unless you watched the live stream of the event through the entire day you probably missed a few important and exciting content they spoiled for us all.

So for those who didn’t make the event or see the entire stream, here’s a list and a description of everything covered over at RuneFest.

The Church of You

Not a whole lot was discussed about this but Mod Mark expressed that he wanted to make a piece of content where others could worship you the player.

World Event 2

The next world event will feature another two gods, but this time it’s Armadyl and Bandos. They will be fighting atop towers, where weapons of mass destruction sit which are aimed at each other. There will also be caravans all over RuneScape which players can raid.  During the event Divination will play a big role along with a PvP aspect. The biggest part of this event, however, is that the god which loses this battle will be killed. The World Event will take place around the city of Falador.

World Event 3

The third world event will feature the two gods, Brassica Prime (god of cabbage) and the goddess of monkeys Marimbo. The event is meant to be more lighthearted and will be in the form of a “crazy minigame”. There will be no fighting between the two gods themselves.

The Twenty Seventh Skill, Inventor

The skill is set to be released sometime in 2014. It will be the ‘companion skill’ for Divination. Players can expect to be able to upgrade weapons and skilling tools. New weapons, soul weaponry, will be released as well to go along with the skill. Also, players will be able to combine weapons they already have. Inventor will be for members only with the usual level 1-5 demo for free to play.

Fate of the Gods

Fate of the Gods is a quest set to be released sometime in 2014. The quest will be focused around Zaros’ return and players helping him find a new host for his body. Choices made during the quest will affect the appearance of Zaros when he returns. During the quest, players will be able to walk on Freneskae where the Mahjarrat live. Players will learn more about Zaros’ background story, Dragon Riders, and the Elder Gods. It will be set in the 6th age, feature voice acting and have Master difficulty.

Valley of the Dead

Valley of the Dead will be a PvP minigame set for release in 2014. It will have a Battle Royale/Hunger Games play style, making it survival of the fittest.

Added Content to Player Owned Ports

Player Owned Ports will receive added content as well, it is hoped to be released before 2014. Two new trade goods will be added along with two new resources. Players will be able to get twelve new crew members, eight new ship parts, and sixty two new voyages giving them access to level 85 weapons, capes, and rings.

Reworks of Skills

Currently, Construction, Mining, Smithing, Summoning, and Agility are set to be revamped significantly. On Construction, building furniture will now be freely built instead of having dedicated hotspots, and there will be various improvements to training. Mining and Smithing will also be changed up, where requirements for rune will be squashed down to level 60, and there will be level 70 armor ready to be made. Also, you’ll be able to “smith items together” for a currently unknown purpose. Summoning will rework familiars’s functions, allow better training through using pouches, and also have familiars level up. The Agility rework is a complete reimagining of the skill. Run energy will be completely removed from the game, and Agility will instead speed up various actions your character does in RuneScape.

Miscellaneous Content

Below is a list of content of lower-key announcements:

– Possibility of werewolf quest
– Elder God content first coming in early 2014
– Future Zaros quests will be high-leveled content
– Possibility of RuneScape Classic reopening again
– 200th quest

So that was it! Above were the major topics covered in RuneFest, by the looks of it there seems to be alot of good content coming ahead for everyone in 2014 and some of it is set for release before the new year as well.

99 Divination

Early today Runescape saw history as its first player ever, Im Choice, hit milestone 99 in Divination. Congratulations! Now go get some sleep. 😉

The Week After Divination

Its been a week since players eagerly jumped into Runescape hoping to stay in the forefront of the Divination tsunami for as many hours as possible. Since then the mad pace has evened out and the xp counters have slowed, here’s my opinion after a week of a new skill.

What I Didn’t Like

I’m doing this first because I don’t like to end on a bad note. But, as of Tuesday the 27th of August (a week and a few hours after release) already a handful of players have reached level 96 in Divination. No doubt in the early hours of tomorrow morning that’ll be 97 nearly 98. It could just be the relentless pace they are training the skill at but still, 96 in just a week after release? To me thats a bit fast, but I’m not here to make a big deal out of it, 13 million xp is 13 million xp.

Alot of people are complaining Divination is too similar to the Runespan, I can see where they are coming from. You have a similar skilling animation and where your harvesting your xp from is practically the same as in Runespan but just with a different appearance. What sets Divination apart from Runespan is the rewards, in the Runespan your rewards are very limited while in Divination you have countless rewards you can cash in on.

To me the simplicity of the skill is too much. I know most ‘gathering’ skills are simple and should be simple, but after you train one level of Divination its practically the same until level 99. The only difference is the location after you level up, but once you change locations your doing the same thing as you were doing before. Even the graphics are pretty similar as you level up.

What I Liked

Divination is a great gathering skill. Most gathering skills these days are obsolete and probably will be for a looong while. What Divination provides is a gathering skill thats worth training for the rewards. The rewards for Divination are a wide range of very useful perks which nearly all the gathering skills lack. People will be training Divination more for the rewards then for the sake of skilling. Also, the rewards have the potential to help even out current Runescape economy which is still recovering from the bot outburst.

Divination is a gathering skill thats very social. Most gathering skills you don’t want others with you as they will take your resources. This is not the case for Divination, its a great skill to hang out and chatter with other people while gaining some xp.

Conclusion

In terms of gathering skills, this is the one Runescape needed. Its simple to get started, has good rewards, and has a social aspect to it. I also think that the value of Divination will increase greatly when the follow up skill is released that is meant to further increase the need for skilling Divination, (similar to mining and smithing). Once the two skills come out I think they will go great hand and hand, as well as provide more purpose to Divination.

Weekly Tips: 10

Watch the market closely. With a new skill like Divination certain things will raise by alot. Check to see whats rising the most and purchase some of it.

Preparation for Runescape’s New Skill: Divination

Its time everyone! Roughly a year ago Runescape released the information that they were working on two new skills to be released to the game sometime in the near future. One of these skills will be released in literally hours from now. For those who want to jump onto the Divination train you need a little bit of preparation. Although I don’t know the exact details of the skill there are a few common things you can do to get ready.

Tie Up Your Lose Ends

Finish what your doing. Are you in the middle of a quest? A big skilling marathon? Getting a certain level? Whatever your doing, finish it before spending alot of time on the new skill. This will allow you to focus on the skill without any other distractions and things that you had wanted to do.

Organize

An organized bank can do wonders. Being able to know where all your items are without scrolling through lots of junk can save you alot of time and money as well. It also looks nice too!

Get Ahead Early And (Try) Stay There

Some people want to get the first 99, stay in the top 1k players, or just a friendly race with a clanmate. Getting ahead of the majority of players is a smart move in terms of merching. You’ll know what the players who are 10 levels below you will need to level up quickly, thus you can make smart market moves.

Watch The Market

With a big update like this tons of items will skyrocket in price and maybe even plummet. Try and have a couple million gp ready to spend and perhaps lose. Watch the Grand Exchange page on the Runescape website and see what the days biggest rises are. I think Divination is similar to Summoning in the sense that it requires random items, raw fish, logs, herbs, or other things to make the rewards. Those are the items that will jump in price early on and then slowly fall back down. Take some risk and you have the potential to make some easy money.

Happy skilling everyone!

This August… is Loaded

August will be loaded. A great month to be a Runescape player.

On the 1st, Runescape released the list of upcoming updates planned for the month of August, and it was far from disappointing. Probably one of the best months in terms of updates I’ve seen for a long long time. New quest, Loyalty Store update, new skill, and other updates will be coming out this month.

What I’m most excited for is probably the Loyalty Store revitalization. I’ve been saving my points ever since I became a member for this. Right now nothing in the Loyalty Store, except for a few high tier auroras, really catches my eye. Runescape knew that they could not make a Loyalty Store good enough to compete with Solomon’s General store so they decided to pair the two together. I wasn’t expecting this so I’m really excited for it, finally we can have some juicy Solomon’s General store items without spending precious Runecoins. Save your Loyalty Points everyone, there’s going to be alot of rewards to choose from soon.

As far as Divination goes (new skill coming out this month), its too early for me to tell. Runescape has needed a new skill and this seems to fit the bill, although I’m leery of it being too similar to Runespan. I don’t think I’ll know until I’m 50 levels into it so I’m staying positive about it. I’m really looking forward to the release and doing a little bit of skilling. I thought they should have made it f2p as well, but they still have another new skill on the back-burner and they might release it as a f2p skill. I’m expecting the rewards to be good and as far as I can tell they should be, so it seems it will be a skill worth spending time over.

This month is going to be great! Enjoy it everyone. I’ll be gone for the weekend and will be posting early next week.
